If you’re into building a lean physique there are a few basic staples to your diet that are just key. After a tough workout, taxing the fibers of your hard earned muscle it’s your big chance to get a few hard earned and well deserved carbs! Putting your muscle to work depletes them of necessary sugars that you should be happy to return. Of the tools of choice for those in the know is the beautiful and delicious sweet potato.
As I work out in the mornings I like to get a quick breakfast in, head to the gym, then come home and eat a full breakfast before starting my work day. This is how I refuel the machine.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Wash and chop your sweet potato. Cut it once lengthwise and lay the flat ends on the cutting surface. Then slice into 1/2 inch strips. Stack 2 or 3 strips on their side and slice again into 1/2 inch strips.
Place the fries in a mixing bowl and use tongs to toss with 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil. Season lightly with salt, pepper, and other fun spices like cinnamon and cayenne pepper.
Spread the fries on a cookie sheet in a single layer. It’s best if they don’t touch, but no major deal if they do. Bake for 25 minutes, flipping once half way through.
Enjoy them as a side along with lean protein and fresh, beautiful, green veggies. That’s what we call Eating for Abs! When you try it, email us a photo smiling with your end result!
